We have received wonderful counsel from our church leaders about the importance of the family. We can find these principles in The Family: A Proclamation to the World. We believe that it is a central unit to the gospel. We believe that families are eternal and that family relationships extend beyond the death. We strive to search for a spouse that we will love and cherish not only for this earthly life but also for all eternity. When we have that opportunity, we strive to raise our children in love and righteousness, teaching them the gospel principles and moral standards we believe to be true.
We believe in God’s commandment to Adam and Eve in the beginning of time to multiply and replenish the earth. We still believe that that commandment applies to us today. We believe in helping our spirit brothers and sisters have the chance to have an earthly experience and to receive the blessings God has in store for them according to His will and plan. Our earthly families should be patterned after our eternal family because we need to have that eternal perspective in mind. If we are to live with our family members forever and if we love them, we will strive to do all we can on this earth to help them be worthy to receive those blessings and make sure we ourselves are worthy. When we understand Heavenly Father’s will for us, we will be able to strive to be righteous examples to those around us. We can fill our earthly lives with worthwhile and fulfilling activities that will invite the Spirit. If we pattern our earthly families after our eternal family, we can learn to love each other and take out any feelings of contention or resentment towards one another. |
When we can love our families, we can love others and treat them respectfully. When we are raised in families upon a strong foundation of love, trust, kindness, respect and service, people all over the world can be influenced by that example. It would naturally be a better world and society if everyone had a strong family raised on good principles.
I love my family very much and I find so much joy in knowing that I can be with them forever if we live righteously to receive that blessing of eternal life. I am grateful that I have been raised by good parents who taught me the principles of the gospel. Because of the way they raised me, I have had the opportunity to be sealed to my husband for time and all eternity. I have been able to create another link in my family that can connect us after death. I hope to raise my children in the same way so that they can have the same joy and happiness I have experienced and can continue to experience. A link to a Family Home Evening Lesson idea. These are just a few thoughts that could be collaborated together to teach that the home is the ideal and best place to learn righteous principles and values.
