The Importance of Family
Families are in trouble in today's age. We need to understand Heavenly Father's plan for us so that we know our purpose here on earth and so that we can understand why families are so important. As members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, we believe that the family is central to Heavenly Father's plan for us and that the family is can be eternal and extend beyond death. We can prepare ourselves at any age for the many responsibilities we will be held accountable for as we live righteously and do our best to serve those in our family.
As we understand the importance of the family, we can stand as examples to the world. We can serve others. We can strengthen each other. We can share the message that there is a way that families can truly be together forever. As you browse through these webpages, I hope you can come to learn more about the family, how we can strengthen our family relationships, how we can prepare for marriage, and how we can maintain righteousness in such a dark and tempting world. |
I believe that what we are here on earth to become is our divine roles of fathers, mothers, wives, husbands, sons, daughters, etc. to fulfill the purposes of raising a family and living and teaching righteousness to our own families and to those around us. We are here to prove our worthiness to our Heavenly Father and that we are continually choosing His plan everyday here in this earthly test. What we hope to become is a disciple of our Savior, Jesus Christ. He came on earth to set an example for us so that may follow in his footsteps and become charitable people to others, live righteously and come to know the gospel.
In my current time in this life having been just recently married, I am trying to become a good wife. I have learned and will continue to learn so much more about the roles I have covenanted to take upon myself in the temple. Having read the Proclamation, there is so much work for me to do in this new role and I am excited for the things to come in the future for my husband and I. I know that if we study these principles of truth about the family, we can continue to learn how to strengthen family relationships and how to include the gospel in our family’s life everyday. |
